Things That Can Go Wrong in Your Bathroom, And How to Fix Them.

For most people, the bathroom is one of the smallest rooms in their home – even their prized master bath. And yet when you think of all the attention it gets, that one small room must feel awfully important when compared to a mere bedroom or den.
One reason it garners to much attention is because of all the things that can and often do go wrong inside them. Here are four every day examples, and what you can do to correct them.
Low water pressure: Reduced water pressure in the shower could be caused by a build-up of sediment inside the showerhead. So before calling a plumber or thinking about replacing your showerhead, try cleaning it first in a bowl of boiled vinegar – you might want to let it cool a bit so you don’t get burned when placing the showerhead inside the bowl. After immersing it for just a few minutes, your showerhead should be working like new again provided sediment build-up caused the reduced water pressure. If that’s not the case, then it’s time to contact Your 1 Plumber.
Exhaust fan troubles: Bathroom ceiling fans are designed to remove excess moisture and unpleasant odors for your more pleasant bathroom experience. If you notice, however, that the moisture isn’t disappearing as quickly as usual, here’s a way to test the effectiveness of your fan. Grab a facial tissue or tear off a sheet or two of toilet paper and hold it up to the fan while it’s running. If the fan can’t hold the paper up on its own power, your fan probably needs to be vacuumed or dusted.
Fogless mirrors: If you have multiple people using the bathroom at once, it helps if the mirror doesn’t fog up when the other person is showering. If you’re losing that battle, however, you might want to replace your mirror with one that resists fogging. In the meantime, gently rub a bar of soap across your fogged up mirror to clear it up in a jiffy. And then use a dry washcloth to remove the soap residue.
Bring out the drill: Use a power drill to help clean your bathroom? Hey, don’t knock it until you fire it up and try it! Here’s how: place the narrow end of scrub bush into the drill bit slot, tighten it up, and then turn on your drill and enjoy all the extra scrubbing power you’ll get when attempting to clean grime off your floor, toilet, or shower tiles.
Of course, not everything in your bathroom can be corrected DIY style. For anything involving plumbing or drain cleaning, you have all the assistance you need right here from Your 1 Plumber. Call today or anytime and let us know how we can help.
