The Importance of Staying Hydrated

Staying hydrated is good for your health, can help you lose weight, and yet is one of the hardest things for people to accomplish during a busy day. Many, for example, don’t like water, or get too caught up in their routines to remember to take a moment to drink something. Here are a few ways to outsmart yourself and drink all the water you need.
Step 1: Mix it up!
There are all kinds of things you can add to water to make it less, well, watery. Powdered flavors will do the trick, but you also can add fresh fruit like raspberries, blueberries, and apples, or veggies like cucumber slices. This adds a bold, distinctive flavor while giving you a tasty treat at the bottom of your glass.
Step 2: Change the temperature!
Drinking teas, especially the herbal variety, is a great way to drink a warm and soothing beverage and still keep up with hydration. On the other hand, don’t discount the hydrating value of iced tea, either.
Step 3: Eat it!
Adding more liquid to your cooking is an old trick for helping people keep hydrated. Add more soups, stews, and chilies to your meals, and avoid dry, water absorbing foods like rice, bread, and crackers. Also, increasing your vegetable intake is mostly just fiber and water in a delicious crunchy form. Cucumbers, lettuce, celery, tomatoes, green peppers, and cauliflower are all over 90% water. Eat them raw, or cook them and chill for a delicious cool soup.
Step 4: Blend Watermelon.
Named after its amazing abundance of water, watermelon is plant-based hydration perfection hidden in a big green ball. How do you know if you’ve grabbed a winning watermelon? Find one that feels heavy for its size and makes a hollow sound when you tap it.
Step 5: Freeze Bananas.
Bananas are full of potassium which replenishes electrolytes you lose while sweating. Bananas also contain magnesium, which helps balance and regulate the fluids in your body.
Of course, it’s not just how much water your drink that matters – equally important is the water quality. That’s where we can help.
