How to Give Your Home a Fresh Start

Once the holidays are over, the last of the guests have left, and the decorations are put away, you might just find yourself staring at your four walls itching for a change. But sometimes, change doesn’t come easy – or cheap. Luckily, we’ve come up with a few simple and impactful ways to shake up your space, none of which require a demolition crew or a bank loan.
Complete just a few of these and you’re more than likely to fall in love with your home all over again.
Mix Up Your Furnishings – Free and instantly gratifying, rearranging your furniture is one of the easiest ways to change the look and feel of a room. Focus on the largest pieces first, including you’re your sofa and loveseat, entertainment center, and bookcase. You can even move pieces from room to room. And the best part? If you don’t like it, simply move it back.
Check Your Lighting – Whether a room is large and airy or cozy and small, good lighting can make all the difference. Make sure each room has multiple light sources, like a desk or side table lamp, floor lamp, and a pendant or chandelier. Consider how you use the room and then consider adding task and accent lighting where you need more light and/or want to make a more dramatic decorating statement.
Paint the Front Door – Make a great first impression on visitors by giving your front door a facelift. Whether it’s classic black, vibrant red, or whimsical yellow, this is an easy an inexpensive way to take curb appeal up a notch and make a fresh, new statement to the outside world.
Spruce Up Your Bed – There’s no better feeling than climbing into a nice warm bed on a cold winter’s night. But if your bed isn’t looking as cozy and inviting as you’d like it to, treat yourself to new bedding. Get a set of flannel sheets, a luxurious duvet, and a couple of new, fluffy pillows and you’ll never want to leave.
Refresh Your Bathroom – Freshen it up with a new shower curtain, new towels and bathmats and, if you’re feeling ambitious, how about a fresh coat of paint to really amp up the style factor.
Spray-Paint Something – We all have that one little piece of furniture that doesn’t quite fit. Perhaps you snagged it at a garage sale or out of your great aunt’s house. You had great plans for it, but now it’s just sitting there, begging for attention. Grab some sand paper and a few cans of spray paint and get to work.
If you’re feeling even a little more ambitious, Your 1 Plumber would be glad to lend a helping hand, especially when it comes to kitchen and bath upgrades. New faucets, a replacement toilet, adding a gas connection in your kitchen so you can convert from electric gas cooking – we have numerous ways to help you give your home a fresh start. While giving you and your family a whole new way of looking at it.
