Is Your Plumbing Properly Vented in Hyattsville and Prince Georges County?
By Wilmer Romero on May 12, 2015 in Plumbing
A lot of the work we here at Your 1 Plumber is fixing what someone else attempted to fix, but didn’t get it quite right.
And that’s especially true of do-it-yourselfers who, very often, have just enough knowledge to get the job partially right. The only problem is, “partially right ” can sometimes lead to serious problems.
Take venting, for example. Your sinks, toilets, tubs, etc., carry water to your sewers or septic tank. Everyone knows THAT, right? But did you also know that all plumbing needs to be vented?
Without a correctly installed and placed vent, you could be facing problems like these:
- Slow drainage, probably making you thing you have a clog.
- You might here gurgling noises during the drainage process.
- Without a vent, water inside a trap could siphon out, and with that water comes unpleasant sewer odors.
- Those aren’t just odors, they’re methane gas emissions, the kind that can pause health risks.
And, just for good measure, your local building codes require that all plumbing be properly vented.
If we go any further, we’ll probably be giving you more information than you really want, plus it can get complicated. So instead, if you notice any of the symptoms listed above, and nothing you’re doing is solving the problem, then there’s a very good chance you have a plumbing venting problem. And yet, with just one call to Your 1 Plumber, the problem will be gone and everything vented according to code and plumbing “best practices.” We guarantee it.
We look forward to this and every opportunity to serve you.
