High Efficiency Water Heaters in Laurel, Marriottsville and Sykesville

Before you plunge ahead with buying a new or replacement water heater, there are a few of very important things you first need to know.
First, the good news. All water heaters manufactured in – or, for sale in – the US as of April, 2015 have greater energy efficiency ratings than previous makes and models. That means your new water heater will help reduce your utility costs and, over time, those energy savings will likely cover the cost of your entire purchase.
What’s not to like, right?
Well, not so fast, because if your water heater is located where it consumes the full amount of space built to house it, then together we’re going to have to come up with a creative alternative solution.
Here’s one example of what we mean. Under the federal program dubbed NAECA (National Appliance Energy Conservation Act), all new water heaters with less than 50 gallons of storage capacity are now 2” taller and 2” wider than previous models. The expanded size allows for more internal insulation, the amount needed to meet or exceed the new regulations.
Continuing with our example, let’s say you now have a 50 gallon water heater in a space where a bigger unit simply would not fit. Then, acting on your behalf, Your 1 Plumber would proceed to offer you a series of alternative suggestions:
- Maybe a 40 gallon system would meet your family’s hot water demands. That would be the simplest solution of all.
- Or, maybe there’s a simple and affordable way to expand the space currently allotted for your water heater, an option we would further pursue if our analysis shows you really need 50-gallon capacity.
- And then there’s the tankless water heater option which would actually free up the space your water heater now occupies while satisfying all of your family’s hot water needs.
Again, that’s just one hypothetical example reflecting the new set of choices you could be facing before purchasing your next water heater. All the more reason to contact Your 1 Plumber for professional guidance, detailed recommendations, and all the assistance you need in determining exactly which new water heater option best meets your family’s needs and budget.
